It’s summer time and we’re selecting one wine each day from Costco’s “Hello Summer Wine Sampler 2021.” This sample is a box of 12 unique wines wines (each in a 375ml bottle) and costs $49.99. Today is Day 7 (of 12) of the wine sampler and it’s a 2020 Sauvignon Blanc called Pique-Nique.
Sovereign Virtue is an Italian rose made of two grapes: 51% Sangiovese & 49% Merlot. This pink wine has a distinctly strawberry flavor with a strong acidic finish. Like biting into a tangy strawberry, some of our team really liked it while others did not prefer the lasting tartness. If paired with food, it is recommended to drink this wine with shellfish, grilled fish, tangy cheese (like goat cheese), strawberries, or even sweet potato dishes.
We’re trying one wine each day from Costco’s “Hello Summer Wine Sampler 2021,” which contains 12 unique wines (each in a 375ml bottle). Today is Day 5 (of 12) of the wine sampler and it is the white wine Flores de Verao (2020) from Portugal.
Our taste testing team was split on this wine. This wine has nuances of dark fruits and berries, but what was “controversial” was the actual sweetness of the wine: this sweetness was either just right or just too much. It is suggested that this Sweet Red should be paired with roast beef, duck in a cherry sauce, Gorgonzola cheese, lasagna, sautéed mushrooms, or butternut squash with kale. This rose has raspberry and cherry notes, resulting in a sweet flavor with a light sour nuance. This blended wine pairs nicely with various seafood (e.g. salmon, tuna) and creamy or savory dishes.
Costco just released their “Hello Summer Wine Sampler 2021”. This sampler contains 12 unique wines (in perfectly sized 375ml bottles) where one different wine can be sampled each day for 12 days. Today is Day 2 (of 12) of the wine sampling: a white wine from Spain Reflective Wings Chardonnay (2020). Our team loved this Chardonnay as it had sweet and crisp citrus and apple notes. This wine pairs well with seafood (it was so good with our calamari steak and caper butter sauce), hard cheeses and other salty foods.
