Happy Rosé Day (i.e. June 12th, 2021)! As rosés can have such variety, there is a range of color and flavors, pairing nicely with everything from green salads, cheese plates and even barbequed lamb/pork. Sovereign Virtue is an Italian rose made of two grapes: 51% Sangiovese & 49% Merlot. This pink wine has a distinctly strawberry flavor with a strong acidic finish. Like biting into a tangy strawberry, some of our team really liked it while others did not prefer the lasting tartness. If paired with food, it is recommended to drink this wine with shellfish, grilled fish, tangy cheese (like goat cheese), strawberries, or even sweet potato dishes.
Grab a box of Costco’s Hello Summer Wine Sampler (2021) and let us know what you think about the Ceu Do Norte Rose (2020). This rose has raspberry and cherry notes, resulting in a sweet flavor with a light sour nuance. This blended wine pairs nicely with various seafood (e.g. salmon, tuna) and creamy or savory dishes.
With the days getting warmer, some of us recently made the trek to the wine mecca of Napa, California. When we visit Napa, we have our favorite go-to spots, with one of them being the Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch. While grabbing a bite outside the beautifully appointed farmhouse, we tried the Long Meadow Ranch Rose of Pinot Noir (2019)
