Trader Joe’s Irony Cabernet Sauvignon (2017) by C. Indelicato & J. Indelicato | A Review

Irony Cabernet Sauvignon in Trader Joe's

This post is not sponsored.

We’ve been to Trader Joe’s hundreds (dare we even say thousands) of times and yet it’s ironic that we have not tried this red wine by the vintners at Irony Wine Cellars.

Featured on a center palette at our local Trader Joe’s, this well-priced Cabernet Sauvignon seemed like another great wine to taste test as well as good pairing with the beef short ribs some of us were going to have for dinner later that week.

See below for what we thought about Trader Joe’s Irony Cabernet Sauvignon (2017) (as well as how the beef short ribs turned out).

Hold up, what is Trader Joe’s?

Our Review of Trader Joe’s Irony Cabernet Sauvignon (2017)

Irony Cabernet Sauvignon Front Label

Type of Wine

This is a red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

Origin

Irony Wine Cellars based in Napa and Manteca, California

Alcohol Content

14.5% ABV

Appearance

Irony Cabernet Sauvignon Back Label

This red wine is contained in a standard 750ml bottle with clean and simple white and gold font on its labels.

The wine has a cork closure.

Taste / “How and when to drink”

According to the label, Irony’s Cabernet Sauvignon has “enticing aromas of black cherry and cocoa [with] a dark berry flavors combined with layers of chocolate-covered black cherry and subtle notes of baking spice.”

When we tasted this wine, it was a clean full-body experience, as it had heavier bolder tasting nuances.  We did indeed enjoy the cherry notes (as mentioned in the label) as well as spicy peppery flavors.  There was no bitterness or aftertaste, but rather a classic tannic experience as one would expect from a Cabernet Sauvignon.

As a result, it paired well with our beef short ribs, as the savory tender beef matched well with the peppery smooth flavor of this Cabernet Sauvignon.

Price

One bottle of this Cabernet Sauvignon is $5.99.

Availability

Find Irony’s Cabernet Sauvignon at your local Trader Joe’s.  Like many things at Trader Joe’s though, items come in and out of stock and usually sell fast if they’re good and unique.

We’ve also seen this available at other grocery stores as well as online merchants.  The price might not be as good as at Trader Joe’s though.

The Bottom Line

We recommend Trader Joe’s Irony Cabernet Sauvignon (2017) and rate it 4.0 Stars (out of 5)!

This Cabernet Sauvignon is a clean, full-body experience, with heavier bolder tasting notes including cherry and spicy peppery flavors.  One 750ml bottle costs $5.99 at Trader Joe’s, which makes this a great value and pairing with a hearty meal (e.g. we sure enjoyed this wine with our beef short ribs).
