Costco’s Hello Summer Wine Sampler (2021) | A Review
Our Review of the Sweet Red (2020)
Type of Wine
This is a red wine blend.
How and when to drink / taste
The Sweet Red has flavors of “dark fruits [and] kitchen spices, with a succulent, juicy undercurrent,” and cherry, blackberry, licorice and vanilla notes (according to Costco). When we tasted this, we either loved it or did not prefer it. Some of our taste testers loved the sweeter flavors of this wine which made it definitely more drinkable and enjoyable. Others felt that the blatantly sweetness of this red blend was too cloying and made it hard to drink by itself.
The maker of the Sweet Red suggests pairing this wine with roast beef, duck in a cherry sauce, Gorgonzola cheese, lasagna, sautéed mushrooms, or butternut squash with kale.
The Costco’s Hello Wine Sampler (2021) is $49.99, which is around $4.00 per 375ml bottle of wine.
It seems as though one cannot buy this wine outside of the Costco wine sampler; let us know in the comments if you find out otherwise though. As a result, if you want to try this wine, buy the Hello Summer Wine Sampler (2021) at your local Costco.

The Bottom Line
We rated the Sweet Red (2020) from Costco’s Hello Summer Wine Sampler (2021) 3.0 Stars (out of 5)!
Our taste testing team was split on this wine. This wine has nuances of dark fruits and berries, but what was “controversial” was the actual sweetness of the wine: this sweetness was either just right or just too much. It is suggested that this Sweet Red should be paired with roast beef, duck in a cherry sauce, Gorgonzola cheese, lasagna, sautéed mushrooms, or butternut squash with kale.
